US Città di Palermo have parted company with coach Francesco Guidolin following Sunday's 4-3 home defeat by lowly Parma FC, with assistant Renzo Gobbo and youth coach Rosario Pergolizzi taking charge for the last five games of the season.
Winless streak
The 51-year-old had overseen a brilliant start to the campaign by the Sicilian club, but the team have failed to win in eleven Serie A matches, dropping to sixth place in the standings, seven points behind AC Milan in fourth.
'Relegation form'
Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini said: "Maybe our coach found himself competing for goals he was not expecting to reach. This is a good team - obviously we cannot fight for the Scudetto but we are just behind the best sides in Italy, yet we have been playing like a team battling relegation." Guidolin had returned to the Palermo hot seat last summer, having spent the 2005/06 campaign with Genoa 1893 and AS Monaco FC. He originally occupied the post during 2004/05 following spells with Atalanta BC, Vicenza Calcio, Udinese Calcio and Bologna FC.
