Derby disappointment
Derby started the day four points behind Sunderland and five adrift of Championship leaders Birmingham but, with one match of the league programme left to play, were unable to keep in touch with the top two after they conceded goals by Palace’s Clinton Morrison and Mark Kennedy. Billy Davies's side must now content themselves with a place in the play-offs.
