Celtic FC have strengthened their attacking options for next season by signing Hibernian FC striker Chris Killen on a three-year deal.
Free transfer
The New Zealand international joins the Scottish champions on a free transfer after scoring 16 goals in 25 league games for Hibernian, following his move north from Oldham Athletic FC in English football's third tier in January last year. Killen's contract at Hibs was due to end this summer and he had actually undergone a medical at Welsh side Cardiff City FC before learning of Celtic's interest.
'Bigger and better'
"Initially I signed at Hibs on an 18-month deal and I saw it as a stepping stone to bigger and better things, and Celtic are bigger and better," said the 25-year-old. "It's such a great club and playing in the [UEFA] Champions League is something I would love to do." Killen is the second Hibs player to arrive at Celtic in the last fortnight following midfielder Scott Brown's €6.4m move to Glasgow, while manager Gordon Strachan has already recruited another forward for 2007/08 in Scott McDonald from Motherwell FC.
