FC Barcelona defender Rafael Márquez will miss the remaining three games of the Spanish season after receiving bad news about an injury to his right thigh.

FC Barcelona defender Rafael Márquez will miss the remaining three games of the Spanish season after receiving bad news about an injury to his right thigh.

New problem
Club medical staff predicted the Mexican international would be back in action before the end of the campaign after he tore a muscle on 29 April, but were forced to have another look at the 28-year-old after he pulled up in training yesterday. Scans revealed he had suffered a new tear to the scar tissue covering the old injury, ruling him out for another two weeks.

Inferior record
The defender is now resigned to missing the remainder of the Primera División campaign as Barça look to claim a third successive league title. They are level on points with Real Madrid CF, but second by virtue of an inferior head-to-head record. They play Getafe CF and RCD Espanyol in their next two games at home before finishing the season at CG Tarragona.
