Riou ready for Toulouse step

The 27-year-old goalkeeper Rudy Riou has become Toulouse FC's first signing of the summer as they contemplate a first crack at the UEFA Champions League.

Three-year contract
Ligue 1's third-placed team this season will enter Europe's premier club competition in August's third qualifying round, and only a two-legged tie stands between them and the group stage. Riou has signed a three-year contract from FC Istres, who have just been relegated from the second tier of French football. Riou, a former youth international, will be the No2 behind first-choice shot-stopper Nicolas Douchez. He began his career with Montpellier Hérault SC before moving to Istres in 2004/05.
