FK Austria Wien have announced the signing of promising SV Ried player Emin Sulimani on a two-year contract after winning the Austrian Cup last night.
'A big prospect'
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, who has played for the Austrian Under-21 side, has agreed a two-year contract with the option of a third year, having made 24 league appearances for Ried this season, scoring twice. "I am very happy that we made this deal," said club general manager Thomas Parits. "Emin is a player with a future and a big prospect for UEFA EURO 2008™ too. He can be played on either side of an attacking midfield."
European angle
Austria came from behind to beat SV Mattersburg 2-1 and claim their third successive Austrian Cup. Georg Zellhofer's side have had a tough season and lie sixth in the ten-team league table, but can look forward to competing in the first qualifying round of next season's UEFA Cup after bowing out following the group stage of this season's competition.
