Tottenham Hotspur FC defender Michael Dawson, who has played 57 games this season, has signed a contract extension that will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2012.

Tottenham Hotspur FC defender Michael Dawson has signed a contract extension that will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2012.

Gruelling campaign
The 23-year-old, who still had four years to run on his contract prior to the extension, has made 95 appearances for the London club since his move from Nottingham Forest FC in January 2005. Incredibly, Dawson has missed just one of Tottenham's 58 games this season in all competitions.

Bright future
Dawson said: "This represents a further commitment on both my and the club's behalf." Spurs manager Martin Jol added: "He is exactly the kind of player that will be part of a bright future for our club. He is my player of the season." Tottenham need just one point from their final league game of the season at home against Manchester City FC on Sunday to return to the UEFA Cup first round next season.
