Toulouse FC's European qualifying hopes have received a boost after the French club were awarded a victory in the wake of their abandoned match at FC Nantes Atlantique last weekend.
Pitch invasion
The game at already relegated Nantes had to be called off when protesting home fans invaded the pitch with three minutes remaining and the scores still at 0-0. Toulouse initially took one point from the fixture but following a ruling today by the French Professional League, they have been handed two more.
Nantes forfeit
Jacques Riolacci, president of the league's disciplinary committee, explained: "The decision is unanimous and made according to article 335 of our regulations, whereby the team whose supporters interrupt a game which subsequently does not resume, forfeit that game." The extra points move Toulouse into sixth place in Ligue 1, within two points of RC Lens who occupy third place - the last available UEFA Champions League qualifying slot - with one round of matches to play. Toulouse visit an FC Girondins de Bordeaux side level on 57 points with Lens in Saturday's season climax.
