The side that finished fourth in the Liga claimed the signature of 32-year-old Zé Manel on a free transfer his contract with Boavista FC expired. The Braga-born winger, who has signed a two-year contract, made his name at FC Paços de Ferreira before signing for Boavista in 2004. A regular at the Porto outfit, he scored five goals in 28 Liga games in the season just ended.

Young prodigy
Jair Baylón, meanwhile, has put pen to paper on a five-season deal. The 18-year-old forward, son of former Peruvian international Julio Baylón, was groomed at Club Alianza Lima, for whom he scored a total of 66 goals in 2006. He has represented Peru at Under-17 and U21 level.
