Figo pledges future to Inter

FC Internazionale Milano midfielder Luís Figo has agreed a new deal that will keep him with the Nerazzurri until the end of his playing days and beyond.

'Great satisfaction'
"It is with great satisfaction for FC Internazionale Milano and its supporters that Figo has confirmed he will wear the Nerazzurri shirt for another season by renewing his contract until June 2008," read a club statement. "At the end of the next campaign Figo will continue to assist the club with his experience by taking care of international relations."

Spanish success
The former Sporting Clube de Portugal winger joined FC Barcelona in 1995 and claimed the 1996/97 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and two Primera División titles during five seasons at Camp Nou. In 2000 he joined Real Madrid CF for €65m and immediately helped his new side to the Spanish league title. The former FIFA world player of the year was also a UEFA Champions League winner in the 2001/02 season.

Inter titles
Capped 127 times by Portugal, the 34-year-old midfielder joined Inter in 2005 and has played 64 Serie A games in two seasons with the Nerazzurri, scoring seven goals and winning the Scudetto twice. The first title came as a consequence of the match-fixing scandal which hit Italian football last summer while the second arrived after Inter amassed an Italian record 97 Serie A points.
