FC Basel 1893 have made Benjamin Huggel the latest Swiss international star to return home after the signing of striker Marco Streller last week.
Important year
The 29-year-old midfielder has spent the past two campaigns in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt but was keen to go back to Switzerland in the run-up to UEFA EURO 2008™. Huggel has agreed a contract until summer 2010 at Basel, where he first made his professional breakthrough in the 1998/99 season. Huggel played 25 times for Eintracht this campaign, scoring once. He will be reunited with former team-mate Streller who headed back to Basel from VfB Stuttgart last Thursday, agreeing a contract until 2012.
