Gilmullin faces fight for life

FC Rubin Kazan defender Lenar Gilmullin was in a coma in hospital on Tuesday morning after being injured in a motorcyle accident.

The Russian Under-21 international, who has just turned 22, was a passenger on the bike yesterday when it left the road en route to Kazan, although the exact nature of the incident is not yet known. He has suffered a fractured skull and brain injury, and was receiving intensive care treatment in the city. Gilmullin came through the ranks at Rubin and has played eleven games in the 2007 season.
