'Something new'
The 28-year-old is leaving the side he supported as a child after moving to the Stade Vélodrome from AS Monaco FC in January 2006 but will be reunited with Jean Fernandez, his first coach at Marseille. "I'm really happy to start something new here," said Maoulida, who made 34 league appearances and four more in the UEFA Cup last season. Marseille will compete in the 2007/08 UEFA Champions League after finishing as Ligue 1 runners-up, while Auxerre, who sold midfielder Benoît Cheyrou to Marseille last week, are facing their first season without European football since the 2001/02 campaign.
