S.S. Lazio have signed midfielder Simone Del Nero on a free transfer from Serie B club Brescia Calcio.
Thrilled
The 25-year-old arrives in Rome on a contract until 2012 and after a season in which he scored one goal in 23 league appearances. "Saying I am happy is an understatement," he said.
Brescia stalwart
"I will be playing in European competition for an ambitious team like Lazio, so it's a dream come true." Del Nero joined Brescia in 2000 from Empoli FC and went on to play 105 league games for the northern side, in addition to a single Scottish league match while on loan at Livingston FC. He also won the 2004 UEFA European Under-21 Championship with Italy. Lazio, third in Serie A this season, will enter the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round.
