O'Connor says farewell to Lokomotiv

English Premier League newcomers Birmingham City FC have completed the €4m signing of Scotland striker Garry O'Connor from FC Lokomotiv Moskva.

The 24-year-old, with four goals in ten international appearances, has agreed a three-year contract, with the option of a further two years if all goes well. O'Connor made his name at Hibernian FC in his homeland before moving to the Russian capital in March 2006. Although homesick and eager to return to Britain, O'Connor scored the only goal of the Russian Cup final on 27 May as Lokomotiv beat FK Moskva to reach the 2007/08 UEFA Cup. In all, he scored seven goals in 33 league games for Lokomotiv.
