Article body
Ersun Yanal has left his role as coach of Gençlerbirliği SK after just over a week in charge of the Turkish Süper Lig outfit after differences of opinion with the club's chairman İlhan Cavcav.
Yanal unhappy
Yanal, who had previously been coach of Gençlerbirliği in 2002/03 before leaving to become national team coach, signed a three-year contract with the club on 1 June. The 46-year-old has decided to cancel the deal however after disagreeing with the club's decision to sell Ghanian midfielder Haminu Draman to FC Locomotiv Moskva for €3million. "The chairman's promises seem to have changed from the way they were before the agreement we made. We would like to be a strong team but we sold Draman. He (Cavcav) wants to try some players on trial in the meantime but this is not the way that I work," said Yanal.
Chairman response
Cavcav, who has been in charge at Gençlerbirliği for 30 years, responded by saying: "We met with the coach before and then I told him that I have to sell Draman to Locomotiv Moskva because all of the negotiations were over and I promised to sell him. Besides, we have signed Serbian players Marko Zoric and Nikola Petkovic but Yanal said 'I haven't even seen these players.' There is no doubt we know which players have talent and ability."
