Switzerland midfielder Gökhan Inler has signed a five-year contract with Udinese Calcio after leaving Swiss champions FC Zürich for an undisclosed fee.

Switzerland midfielder Gökhan Inler has signed a five-year contract with Udinese Calcio after leaving Swiss champions FC Zürich for an undisclosed fee.

Buy-out clause
The 23-year-old, who played 52 league games for Zürich following his January 2006 switch from FC Aarau, was able to join the Italian side due to a buy-out clause in his contract. Born in Switzerland to Turkish parents, Inler won the first of his seven Switzerland caps in a friendly against Venezuela last September and scored his first national-team goal in March's 2-0 victory over Jamaica. He becomes the third international to quit Zürich this year following the departures of Blerim Dzemaili (Bolton Wanderers FC) and Xavier Margairaz (CA Osasuna). Zürich start their UEFA Champions League campaign in the third qualifying round. Udinese, meanwhile, have allowed defender Cesare Natali to move to Serie A rivals Torino FC.
