AaB take on South African star

Aalborg BK have signed South African international midfielder Bendedict Vilakazi on the eve of their UEFA Intertoto Cup third-round decider against KAA Gent.

Aalborg BK have signed South African international midfielder Bendedict Vilakazi on the eve of their UEFA Intertoto Cup third-round home decider against KAA Gent, with the scores level at 1-1.

Successful trial
The 24-year-old, capped 30 times, has signed a five-year contract after impressing on a two-week trial in Denmark. The club have paid an undisclosed fee to his club in South Africa, Orlando Pirates, with whom he had a contract until the end of 2008. "It is a dream for any South African footballer to go abroad, and it seems to me that Danish football is better than South Afrcian football - physically as well as technically - so I am really looking forward to playing at AaB," said Vilakazi.

'More options'

"We took a good look at him at training and we believe he can become a really good player for us in the Superliga," said AaB sports director Lynge Jakobsen. "He is skilful and is a very versatile player. This signing gives us some more options in our squad." Vilakazi will link up with fellow countryman Siyabonge Nomvethe at Aab. However, he is unlikely to be able to play for around three weeks as he awaits a Danish work permit.
