RC Deportivo La Coruña have beaten off stiff competition to land Mexico left winger Andrés Guardado from CF Atlas in his homeland.

International duty
The 20-year-old is one of the hottest properties in North America and will move to Spanish football for a €7m fee once his team's involvement in the Copa América finals is at an end. Mexico take on Argentina tonight for a place in Sunday's final against Brazil with Guardado tipped to start. He had missed his country's first two games in Veneuzela following a head injury suffered during a 2-1 defeat by the United States last month.

Speedy winger
Guadalajara-born Guardado, who had been linked with moves to England, Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands in the past year, has played 58 league games over two seasons for hometown club Atlas, scoring four goals. He has made a total of 22 appearances for his country, scoring two goals, after winning his first cap back in December 2005 and played at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Renowned for his speed and dribbling, Guardado will arrive at Deportivo as the club say farewell to Juventus-bound defender Jorge Andrade.
