Trabzonspor made light work of their UEFA Intertoto Cup second round first leg with a 6-0 defeat of KS Vllaznia on a night when FC Honka Espoo were held to a 2-2 draw by Aalborg BK and the match between FK Vėtra and Legia Warszawa had to be abandoned.
Trabzonspor 6 – 0 KS Vllaznia
Three goals in each half completed a fine evening's work for Trabzonspor who take a comprehensive aggregate lead to Albania on Saturday. Ersen Martin broke the deadlock for the home side on 12 minutes before Ceyhun Eris (32) and Çağdaş Atan (39) extended the advantage. After the break the Turkish outfit continued to dominate with Serkan Balci (51) and Martin (59), again, adding further efforts before Ömer Riza completed the rout two minutes from time. Trabzonspor can almost certainly now expect a third-round encounter with either FC Otelul Galati of Romania or Bosnia-Herzegovnian outfit FK Slavija Sarajevo.
FC Honka Espoo 2 – 2 Aalborg BK
An exciting match in Finland saw the hosts twice come from behind against AaB, who take the slight advantage of two away goals to the return leg next weekend. The Danish side were ahead after just 33 seconds when Mattias Lindström struck but Honka responded within eight minutes when Roni Porokara converted a penalty after Tero Koskela had been felled in the penalty area. AaB again took the lead midway through the first half courtesy of Rade Prica before Jami Puustinen provided Honka with another equaliser, pouncing on a loose ball in the area. "We had plenty of chances but we have to make better use of them," said Honka coach Mika Lehkosuo, who will be hoping his side improves enough to earn a third-round tie against either KAA Gent or Cliftonville FC.
FK Vėtra a-a Legia Warszawa (match abandoned at 2-0)
Match official Mario Vlk abandoned the contest at half-time with the home side leading their Polish opponents 2-0 following crowd trouble in Vilnius. The Lithuanian side had made a superb start with Brazilian striker Lima Severino heading his side in front after eight minutes. The hosts, who knocked out Llanelli AFC in the previous round, must have been harbouring thoughts of a return to the United Kingdom for a third-round tie against Blackburn Rovers FC when Macedonian midfielder Dejan Miloševski doubled their advantage from ten metres just before the interval. The subsequent disturbance brought the match to a premature end.
