Toni and Klose deliver for Bayern

FC Bayern München got their season off to the perfect start as new signings Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose both scored in victory at home to FC Hansa Rostock.

FC Bayern München got their Bundesliga campaign off to a successful start as new signings Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose both scored in a 3-0 win at home to promoted FC Hansa Rostock.

Klose double
Bayern spent heavily in the summer following last season's disappointing fourth-placed finish and they saw a quick return on their investment as Italian striker Toni, an €11m signing from ACF Fiorentina, turned in Klose's cross to put the Bavarian side ahead on 14 minutes. Klose, who cost Bayern a reported €12m from Werder Bremen, made sure of the points after the break with goals on 66 and 85 minutes as Bayern impressed with a fine attacking performance.

'Constant threat'
"Three points and three goals is a good start," said Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, who opted to start with Toni although the striker only resumed training on Thursday after a knee injury. "We showed discipline and kept pushing forward. The second half was very good. I'm glad the decision to play Toni worked out so well. He's a constant threat in front of goal."

Bremen held
Victory gives Bayern an early advantage over champions VfB Stuttgart who were held to a 2-2 draw by FC Schalke 04 on Friday night. Bremen, who finished third last season, were also forced to settle for a point after VfL Bochum 1848 battled back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw. Collin Benjamin scored the only goal of the game as Hamburger SV defeated Hannover 96, and there were also victories for Eintracht Frankfurt, 1-0 against Hertha BSC Berlin, and DSC Arminia Bielefeld who were impressive 3-1 winners away to Felix Magath's big spending VfL Wolfsburg. Bayer 04 Leverkusen drew 0-0 at home to FC Energie Cottbus.
