Bolton Wanderers FC striker Nicolas Anelka has put an end to the speculation about his future by penning a new deal until summer 2011 with the Premier Division club.
Record signing
The 28-year-old France international, who joined the club from Turkish side Fenerbahçe SK at the start of last season for a club record €11.8m, had been linked with numerous English clubs over the summer and appeared certain to leave Bolton. "I seem to have been linked with every club in the country, but my heart is with Bolton," said Anelka, who has scored nine goals in 39 games for France. "I am very happy with my form, the club and the manager so signing a new contract was not a difficult decision."
Much-travelled
Anelka has scored 14 goals in 39 league games for Bolton - an identical record to the one during his spell in Turkey. He has also played for Arsenal FC, Real Madrid CF, Paris Saint Germain FC, Liverpool FC and Manchester City FC. Meanwhile, 23-year-old defender Nicky Hunt has also secured a new deal with Sammy Lee's club, also until summer 2011.
