Four-match ban for Scolari

Cases

UEFA have suspended Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari for four matches.

Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has been suspended for four matches and fined €12,000 (CHF 20,000) by UEFA for assault following incidents at the end of the UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying group A match between Portugal and Serbia in Lisbon on 12 September. Serbian player Ivica Dragutinović has also received a two-match ban from the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body for improper conduct in the incidents at the end of the game, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

EURO ban
The verdict means that Scolari will be banned from exercising his function as coach for the EURO qualifiers in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in October, and at home against Armenia and Finland in November. Before and during the match, he will not be allowed to go in the team dressing-room, the tunnel, or the technical zone, or on the pitch. In addition, he will not be allowed to communicate with his team. Dragutinović will miss his team's EURO qualifiers in Armenia and Azerbaijan on 13 and 17 October respectively.

Appeal deadline
Appeals against the two verdicts may be lodged within three days of the receipt of the written grounds for the decision.
