PSV Eindhoven and AFC Ajax were the big winners on an important day of action in the Eredivisie, overcoming Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar respectively.
Suárez's second
Ajax took the lead at Alkmaar through Klaas Jan Huntelaar's free-kick and Luis Suárez then put them 2-0 up before Demy de Zeeuw pulled one back for AZ on the stroke of half-time. Maarten Stekelenburg denied Mounir El Hamdaoui from the penalty spot as AZ almost grabbed an equaliser nine minutes into the second half and they were made to pay as Suárez lobbed Boy Waterman for his second of the match ten minutes from time. Moussa Dembélé scored again for AZ in added time.
Perez brace
PSV capped that result with a 4-0 mauling of Feyenoord. They were 3-0 up by half-time with Kenneth Perez striking twice either side of an Edison Méndez effort. Former AZ hero Danny Koevermans added insult to injury with a fourth goal after 88 minutes. PSV now trail Ajax on goals scored at the top of the table. In the day's other Dutch games, FC Groningen won 3-1 at SC Excelsior, FC Twente beat NEC Nijmegen at home by the same score and FC Utrecht earned a 3-2 win at SC Heerenveen.
