Valur Reykjavík celebrated their first title triumph in 20 years on Saturday - edging out FH Hafnarfjördur by a solitary point.

Title triumph
The championship was secured thanks to Atli Sveinn Thórarinsson's 13th-minute strike at home to Handknattleiksfélag Kóparogs. The 1-0 success rendered FH's 3-1 win at Víkingur Reykjavík academic, for the visitors at least as Víkingur were relegated. FH, who had won the previous three titles, will look to put the disappointment behind them next weekend when they take on first division Fjölnir Reykjavík in the Icelandic Cup final.
