A draw enough
Although Tampere were held to a 1-1 home draw by Myllykosken Pallo-47 on Saturday, second-placed Haka could not take advantage 24 hours later as they only drew at FC Lahti by the same scoreline. Ari Hjelm's team, who also shared two goals with FC Girondins de Bordeaux in France in the UEFA Cup first round but lost the tie on a 4-3 aggregate, therefore retain their domestic crown. Nigerian forward Daniel Nwoke scored the 77th-minute equalising goal against MyPa, in front of 5,148 spectators, which effectively sealed the title.
