NSÍ Runavík have claimed a place in the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League after taking the 2007 Faroese title with a 3-1 win against VB/Sumba on Sunday.

Early lead
Johan Nielsen's NSÍ took an early lead through Jónhard Fredriksberg before an own goal from Dimitrije Janković put them firmly in control. Marco Moravić hit back for relegated VB/Sumba before the break, but a late Christian Høgni Jacobsen goal saw the home side underline their dominance and take the title with a game to go. EB/Streymur won 4-2 against B36 Tórshavn, the only side who could have denied NSÍ their first Faroe Islands title.

Final outcome
AB Bóltfelag and VB/Sumba have long since been confirmed as the two sides to be relegated, with B68 Toftir and ÍF Fuglafjørður, the two sides who went down last year, set to replace them. EB/Streymur are now a point adrift of second placed B36 but both sides are already sure of a UEFA Cup place regardless of the results of their final games, as EB/Streymur won the Faroese Cup back in August.
