FC Porto's 100 per cent start to the Portuguese Liga season was finally ended on Friday night as they were held to a 1-1 draw by CF Os Belenenses at the Estádio do Dragão.
Winning start
Jesualdo Ferreira's side had won their opening eight games of the campaign and were closing in on their best-ever start of 13 straight victories in 1939/40. The defending champions seemed destined to make it nine wins too when Hélder Postiga gave them the lead on 21 minutes. However, José Pedro became only the second man to breach the Porto defence in the league this season when he struck five minutes into the second half for Lisbon visitors Belenenses.
Big lead
Porto, who face Olympique de Marseille in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, still have a nine-point advantage at the top of the league standings although nearest challengers SL Benfica can reduce that to six if they beat FC Paços de Ferreira on Saturday.
