The 29-year-old Bologna FC forward Tomas Danilevicius has been named as player of the year in his native Lithuania for the second season in succession.

Annual poll
Danilevicius finished ahead of Heart of Midlothian FC's Audrius Ksanavicius and Brescia Calcio's Marius Stankevicius in the annual poll now in its 43rd year. The Lithuania captain scored four times in UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying and also became his country's top scorer as he found the target for the 13th time in international football this year. "Things were good for me in the national team - I was scoring regularly, but I though this would not be enough to secure this title," he said. "I have had limited playing time in Bologna and I am very dissatisfied with this." Danilevicius is in his fifth season in Italy having played for clubs in Belgium, Russia, Switzerland, England and Scotland.
