Francis Gillot has been named as the new coach of Ligue 1 strugglers FC Sochaux-Montbéliard following the dismissal of Frédéric Hantz earlier this month.
Previous role The 46-year-old Gillot, who resigned as coach of RC Lens in May, takes over with Sochaux second from bottom of the 20-team French table having been knocked out of the UEFA Cup in the first round by Panionios GSS. The former Valenciennes FC, Lens and RC Strasbourg defender previously worked as a youth coach at Sochaux between 1996 and 2003.
