Dortmund focused on future with Doll

BV Borussia Dortmund have continued to plan for a "stable future" by extending the contract of coach Thomas Doll for two more seasons, until June 2010.

BV Borussia Dortmund have continued to plan for a "stable future" by extending the contract of coach Thomas Doll until 30 June 2010.

Vote of confidence
Doll, whose original deal was due to expire at the end of the season, will remain at the helm for at least another two campaigns. The 41-year-old former Hamburger SV boss took over at the Westfalenstadion in March and guided the team to a seventh-placed finish in last season's Bundesliga thanks to five wins in their last seven games.

Planning ahead
Dortmund lie tenth in the standings this time round, having won only six of their 21 matches, although the club have a more long-term plan in mind. "We've held intensive talks between Thomas Doll and [sporting director] Michael Zorc and have developed a stable future concept for the club," said Hans-Joachim Watzke, Dortmund's chief executive.
