AEK Athens FC lost 2-1 at promoted Asteras Tripolis FC to leave Olympiacos CFP top of the Greek Super League at the halfway stage in the season.

Revelation
Tripolis have been a revelation this term and have managed to beat the traditional big four in Greece: AEK, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos FC and PAOK FC. Second-half goals from Lucio Filomeno and Jean Carlos Dode gave the home side a two-goal advantage and despite Ismael Blanco’s 77th-minute strike, AEK could not avoid defeat and dropped to third with Tripolis in fourth. Meanwhile, Panathinaikos moved into second place after an added-time penalty converted by Dimitrios Salpingidis gave them a 1-0 win against Apollon Kalamarias FC to start their centenary year in victorious fashion.
