Non-league Havant & Waterlooville FC twice led away to Liverpool FC in the FA Cup fourth round before losing 5-2 as holders Chelsea FC and Arsenal FC won.

Liverpool FC were grateful for a Yossi Benayoun hat-trick against Havant & Waterlooville FC in the fourth round of the FA Cup after they were forced to come from behind twice against the non-league side to win 5-2. There were also victories for Arsenal FC and holders Chelsea FC while in the surprise of the day second-tier side Preston North End FC thrashed Derby County FC 4-1 away.

Benayoun treble
Havant & Waterlooville, who play their football five divisions below the Premier League side, took the lead at Anfield after eight minutes through Richard Pacquette but Lucas Leiva levelled on 27 minutes. Martin Skrtel's own goal restored the non-league side's advantage but Benayoun equalised before the interval then added two more goals after half-time to spare the home side's blushes. Peter Crouch completed the scoring in the final minute.

Adebayor double
Arsenal progressed to the fifth round after a 3-0 win at home to Newcastle United FC. Two second-half strikes from Emmanuel Adebayor and a Nicky Butt own goal were enough to give Arsène Wenger's men a boost in one of two all Premier League ties on Saturday. In the other Nicolas Anelka scored his first goal for Chelsea as Avram Grant's side won 2-1 away to Wigan Athletic FC and Portsmouth FC came from behind to see off Plymouth Argyle FC by the same scoreline.

Upset avoided
Middlesbrough FC were the other top-flight winners as they avoided an upset with a 2-0 victory at Mansfield Town FC. Lee Dong-Gook (17) eased the fears of Gareth Southgate's side and a late own goal from Jake Buxton confirmed their win. Premier League bottom club Derby were not so fortunate as they suffered a 4-1 setback at home to second-tier Preston. In the day's only Premier League game, Aston Villa FC drew 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers FC, Ashley Young saving the hosts after Roque Santa Cruz's opener. Manchester United FC are at home to Tottenham Hotspur FC tomorrow while Sheffield United FC are at home to Manchester City FC.
