Holders AS Roma are through to the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia after another Mancini-inspired victory at home to UC Sampdoria.
Mazy dribble
The Brazilian winger scored on 61 minutes following a mazy dribble reminiscent of his goal against Olympique Lyonnais in the UEFA Champions League last season. It was Mancini's second goal in four days following the winner he struck against US Città di Palermo in Serie A on Saturday and took the Giallorossi through 2-1 on aggregate. Sampdoria had the best opportunity of the first half when Max Tonetto cleared Claudio Bellucci's header off the line one minute before the break.
Taddei block
Roma goalkeeper Doni was saved again by a team-mate five minutes after the restart when Rodrigo Taddei blocked Sampdoria defender Hugo Armando Campagnaro's close range shot on the line. Just after the hour Mancini controlled a long ball by Daniele Aquilani and turned on the style, jinking his way past Sampdoria defender Luigi Sala before beating goalkeeper Antonio Mirante to send Roma through. The rest of the quarter-finals are played on Wednesday with FC Internazionale Milano traveling to Juventus locked at 2-2, Udinese Calcio hold a 3-2 lead over Calcio Catania and ACF Fiorentina trail S.S. Lazio 2-1.
