Cissé helps Marseille retain momentum

Djibril Cissé scored his seventh goal in his last five Ligue 1 games to seal Olympique de Marseille a 2-0 victory at OGC Nice as RC Lens won 4-1 at SM Caen.

Djibril Cissé scored his seventh goal in his last five Ligue 1 games to seal Olympique de Marseille a 2-0 win at fourth-placed OGC Nice while RC Lens shocked SM Caen with a 4-1 away success.

Marseille rise
The victory lifts Marseille to fifth in the table as they continue their impressive run of form that has led to five wins in nine games with only one defeat. Cissé's strike-partner, Mamadou Niang, opened the scoring after 25 minutes in his first game since returning from the African Cup of Nations. Former Liverpool FC striker Cissé then doubled the lead and secured the points with a 76th-minute strike.

Emphatic away win
Earlier, Lens eased their relegation fears with an impressive win at ninth-placed Caen who have now lost three games in a row. The away side took a first-minute lead through Toifilou Maoulida and then doubled it after 32 minutes when Kader Mangane struck. Loïc Rémy made it three midway through the second half and although Reynald Lemaître got one back two minutes later, Nicolas Seube scored an own goal to round off an emphatic win. Lens jump four places to 13th following the victory but are still just three points from the bottom three.
