AS Roma's hopes of catching FC Internazionale Milano at the top of Serie A were severely dented with a 1-0 reverse at Juventus, after the Nerazzurri had earlier pulled eleven points clear with success against AS Livorno Calcio.
Suazo double
David Suazo was Inter's match-winner in Milan, registering his sixth and seventh league goals of the campaign inside the opening 18 minutes to extend the lead of Roberto Mancini's side. Roma could have narrowed that advantage to eight points but succumbed to defeat in Turin when Alessandro Del Piero drove in a free-kick in first-half added time. The Bianconeri climbed to within a point of their second-placed opponents, who entertain Real Madrid CF in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
Milan draw
It was also a frustrating evening for European champions AC Milan, who could be overtaken in fourth place should ACF Fiorentina overcome Calcio Catania on Sunday. Following their 1-1 home draw with Livorno earlier in the week, Milan once again had to settle for a share of the spoils after a goalless draw at Parma FC.
