Dutch international goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg has signed a two-year contract extension with AFC Ajax, committing to the Amsterdam outfit until summer 2012.
'The right choice'
The 25-year-old Stekelenburg has been at the club since he was 13 and could continue that association until well beyond his 29th birthday after prolonging a deal set to run out in two summers' time. "This feels like the right choice for me," said the Haarlem-born keeper. "It feels good to commit to the club for a longer period and I think we can achieve a lot in the future." Stekelenburg has certainly achieved a lot since making his debut in August 2002, claiming two Eredivisie titles, three Dutch Cups and ten international caps.
