Beşiktaş JK have signed Croatian central defender Gordon Schildenfeld from NK Dinamo Zagreb while loaning Argentinian forward Federico Higuaín to CF América.
German descent
The 22-year-old, born in Sibenik, has signed an 18-month contract in Istanbul with the option of a further two years. The deal could be worth as much as €2m. Schildenfeld, who is of German descent, started his career with his local side HNK Šibenik before joining Dinamo midway through the 2006/07 season. During his two-season spell at Dinamo, he made 32 league appearances and scored twice.
Out of favour
Schildenfeld has been signed as cover for injury-prone Turkish international Gökhan Zan, while out-of-favour Higuaín has been loaned to Mexican club América until the end of the season. The 23-year-old started just four Süper Lig games after arriving in a €1.5m summer deal from CA River Plate, but still hopes to make his mark in Istanbul. "I'll be back in five months as my mission has not been completed," he said.
