Wendell scored a hat-trick as FC Girondins de Bordeaux returned to winning ways with an impressive 3-0 victory against a Paris Saint-Germain FC side that slipped ever closer to the Ligue 1 relegation zone.
Three-goal burst
Wendell went into the game at Stade Chaban-Delmas scrabbling for form, without a goal in 13 games after a barren run stretching back to the start of December – but he ended the wait in spectacular style. The 25-year-old broke the deadlock on 33 minutes and, his drought ended, the floodgates opened as PSG were swept aside. He made it 2-0 four minutes after the restart and quickly completed his hat-trick with a third moments later as Bordeaux moved back to within three points of Ligue 1 leaders Olympique Lyonnais. PSG remain mired in problems and only two points separate them from the bottom three. The day's other match in France ended goalless between AS Saint-Etienne and OGC Nice.
