Leverkusen to set up temporary home

Bayer 04 Leverkusen will play the second half of their 2008/09 campaign at the Düsseldorf Arena with work set to begin on extending the capacity of the BayArena.

Building work
The UEFA Cup contenders will move to their temporary home 30km away from Leverkusen in the final game of the autumn campaign and will then play the remainder of the season at the 51,500-capacity home of third division side Fortuna Düsseldorf with a view to returning to the BayArena for the start of the 2009/10 programme. "While we install a new roof over the stands at the end of this year, we will not be able to guarantee our fans' safety," explained club chief executive Wolfgang Holzhäuser.

Goalkeeper René Adler may miss Bayer 04 Leverkusen's UEFA Cup Round of 32 home leg against Galatasaray AS after straining muscles in his hip during Saturday's 2-2 draw at Karlsruher SC. "I'm not yet sure if he can play but I am still optimistic," said coach Michael Skibbe.
