Zenga to rally Catania troops

Members

Calcio Catania have appointed former Italy goalkeeper Walter Zenga as their new coach after Silvio Baldini left the club by mutual consent yesterday.

Romanian role
The 49-year-old Baldini stepped down in the wake of Sunday's 2-1 home defeat against Torino FC and on Tuesday morning, the Sicilian side announced the deal with Zenga, who left Romanian side FC Dinamo 1948 Bucureşti last November. Zenga, who will turn 48 at the end of April, has previously coached FC National Bucureşti, FC Steaua Bucureşti, FK Crvena Zvezda and Gaziantepspor among others. The former FC Internazionale Milano player will now have to raise Catania's spirits, as the club lie 16th in the 20-team Serie A, with only goal difference keeping them out of the relegation zone. Catania play SSC Napoli at home on Sunday.
