Arsenal FC midfielder Mathieu Flamini has today put pen to paper on a four-year contract with AC Milan after passing a medical.

Arsenal exit
The 24-year-old, whose Arsenal contract will expire in June, arrived in Milan yesterday and signed for the Rossoneri after completing his medical today – despite having been sidelined for a month with an ankle injury. Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani had announced that the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League winners were close to landing the French international after their 2-1 weekend victory over neighbours FC Internazionale Milano.

Impressive performer
"I am very happy, thank you," said Flamini, who this term has enjoyed his most consistent season in English football, making 30 Premier League starts and forming an impressive central midfield partnership with Cesc Fabregas. The former Olympique de Marseille trainee, who joined Arsenal in 2004 and went on to appear in 102 top-flight matches, will return to north London later today. The Gunners occupy third place in the Premier League while Milan are fourth in Serie A with two games remaining. "Flamini is a very good player – we saw this when he played against us in the UEFA Champions League," said Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti. "This is an excellent signing."
