It was a night of mixed emotions for NK Dinamo Zagreb coach Zvonimir Soldo who resigned after leading his side to victory in the Croatian Cup final against HNK Hajduk Split to complete a league and cup double.
'Anything is possible'
Leading 3-0 from the first leg, a goalless draw was enough for Dinamo to win the cup for the ninth time before Soldo broke the news of his resignation. He had replaced Branko Ivanković during the winter break, but stepped down after less than six months in charge following an alleged dispute with the club's board. "I informed [sports director] Zoran Mamić that I am resigning," Soldo said. "I don't want to talk too much about it. That's football, anything is possible."
Bad tempered match
Soldo's announcement followed an eventful second leg in which three players were sent off at the Poljud Stadium in Split. First to go were Hajduk goalkeeper Vladimir Balić and Dinamo's Vedran Čale who were dismissed for fighting on 19 minutes. Dinamo forward Mario Mandžukić followed them on 69 minutes after receiving a second yellow card. Dinamo had won their third straight Croatian title with six games to spare on 12 April.
