FC Zestafoni won the first title in their history as they ended a run of two final defeats against FC Ameri Tbilisi with a 2-1 victory in the 2008 Georgian Cup decider.

Headed opener
Zestafoni created the first chance of the game on three minutes but Vieira shot over the bar from five metres, and Georgi Khidesheli headed wide for ten minutes later for Timur Makharadze's side. The pressure continued after half-time, until Roin Oniani finally opened the scoring with a header from a free-kick after 57 minutes.

Not enough
Vieira then set up Zestafoni's second five minutes later, as his headed flick-on was met with a splendid back-heeled finish from Beka Gotsiridze, and while Ameri poured forward in an effort to save the match, a goal from substitute Dmitri Tatanashvili - who scored the winner in 2007 final - was not enough to save the day.
