RSC Anderlecht midfielder Mbark Boussoufa has signed a contract extension keeping him at the Brussels club until 2012.
Cup final goal
The 23-year-old Moroccan international had two seasons left on his contract but has been quick to renew his commitment to the Belgian Cup winners. "We had a really good second half of the season," Boussoufa said. Anderlecht finished second in the Eerste Klasse behind R. Standard de Liège, before lifting the Belgian Cup with a 3-2 victory over KAA Gent last Sunday. Boussoufa scored his team's second goal in the final against his former club. A one-time Chelsea FC trainee, he joined Anderlecht from Gent in summer 2006 when he was Belgian Footballer of the Year. Anderlecht will enter the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round in 2008/09.
