Toulouse FC president Olivier Sadran has announced that the coach Elie Baup is to be replaced by his assistant Alain Casanova after Les Pitchounes narrowly avoided relegation to Ligue 2.
'Catastrophic season'
Baup, 53, joined Toulouse for the start of the 2006/07 campaign from AS Saint-Etienne and guided the southern outfit to a third-place finish in Ligue 1 and a UEFA Champions League third qualifying round berth. Toulouse were, though, defeated by Liverpool FC over two legs and went on to endure a season of struggle, only avoiding relegation on the final day of the season at the expense of RC Lens. "We experienced a catastrophic season,” said Sadran.
