PSV Eindhoven have completed the signing of Jérémie Bréchet on a free transfer. The 28-year-old left-back was out of contract at Ligue 1 side FC Sochaux-Montbéliard and has agreed a three-year deal with the Dutch Eredivisie champions.
'Good reasons'
"There were good reasons for me to sign," said Bréchet. "PSV have been playing in the [UEFA] Champions League for many years and are always challenging for domestic honours," said the first-ever Frenchman to play for the Philips Stadion club. New coach Huub Stevens will lead PSV's UEFA Champions League campaign next term.
Well-travelled pro
Capped three times by France, Bréchet began his career at hometown team Olympique Lyonnais before switching to Italy with FC Internazionale Milano in 2003. He failed to make an impact at San Siro, though, and moved to Spain with Real Sociedad de Fútbol, before joining Sochaux in 2006 – winning the French Cup and being named captain.
