The beaten 2007/08 UEFA Cup finalists have paid a fee of around €1.3m for the 29-year-old, who previously played in the Scottish Premier League with Heart of Midlothian FC. Velička has signed a three-year contract in Glasgow, with Viking sporting director Egil Østenstad saying: "It wouldn't have been right for us to block a move to one of the biggest clubs in Europe. He will earn considerably more than he earns at Viking." Having finished second in Scotland this season, Rangers will start their UEFA Champions League campaign in the second qualifying round.
