Bordeaux boosted by Gouffran coup

UEFA Champions League contenders FC Girondins de Bordeaux have signed 22-year-old striker Yoan Gouffran from Ligue 1 rivals SM Caen on a four-year contract.

Second arrival
Capped 22 times at Under-21 level by France, Gouffran has joined Les Marine et Blanc on a four-year deal, although no fee has been disclosed. Gouffran, who was named as the most promising youngster in Ligue 2 in 2007, scored ten goals in 36 top-flight appearances last season to help steer Caen to eleventh place on their return to France's élite. At the Stade Chaban-Delmas, Gouffran will link up with his 2005 UEFA European Under-19 Championship winning team-mate Yoann Gourcuff following his arrival on a season-long loan from AC Milan. Bordeaux will compete in the group stage of Europe's premier club competition in 2008/09 as reward for their second-placed finish behind Olympique Lyonnais last term.
