Departure
The former Brazil midfielder took charge of the Istanbul club in summer 2006, winning the Turkish title in his first season and last term reaching the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, but the 55-year-old was unable to reach agreement about extending his stay. A club statement read: "Our contract with Arthur Antunes Coimbra (Zico), coach of the Fenerbahçe football team, has ended. We want to thank Zico for everything he has done for our club and wish him the best for the future." Fenerbahçe finished second in Turkey in the campaign just ended, and will take part in 2008/09 UEFA Champions League qualifying.
